Not really for tourists
I lived in the Preston area for four years, and though it's not a bad place to live, I'm not sure there's so much for tourists to do that it warrants visiting. It's a university town, and the student population is pretty high, making the night life a bit rowdy. There are some nice shops and restaurants in and around town, but nothing that you can't find in Manchester, and frankly Manchester is a lot more tourist-friendly, whereas Preston is mostly a labyrinth of dreary concrete buildings and a nightmare one-way road system. Certainly I would say a visitors time would be better spent in the greater Manchester area, or even in Blackpool for a day out at the beach. [more] |
