Punta Arenas - typical food and cafes
Punta Arenas is a nice place to try Chilean typical food. All along Chiloé Avenue you can find small cafés with a cozy, local, non tourist ambiance. The further you get from the centre of the city, the more you can mingle with the locals. I would suggest trying a “completo” – which is a satiating “sandwich” done with fried eggs, cheese, tomatoes and avocado. Well this in central-north Chile. In Punta Arenas if you ask for a “complete” (meaning of completo in Spanish) you may get instead a sort of hot dog with avocado.
