But on the beach frantic activity had set in. The sea had taken on a calmer green hue. And yonder tiny dots of fishing boats were materializing on the horizon. The sailboats had set out before dawn and after about ten hours at sea were now returning. As they neared the shore they brought down their sails and with a final effort hauled their boats out of the water. The morningís catch was tossed ashore whereupon the womenfolk took over and started sorting them out on the sand. The boats were instantly washed and the two planks yanked apart and left to dry in the sun. The entire fishing community here speaks Telugu.
