Near to it are the famous tourist places of Nainital at a distance of 59 km and Almora at a distance of 50 km.
But why this special name has been rendered to this place? According to the legends, this name owes its origin to Rani Padmini, queen of Raja Sukherdev, the local ruler who was dumfounded by the beauty of the place. It must had happened since Ranikhet is a nature lover's paradise. One can visit to many places but surely the inexplicable panoramic view of the Western Himalayas in Ranikhet is going to have an eternal position within a tourist.
