Rostock
Rostock is the largest city in the province of Mecklenburg Vorpommern. Currently it is one of the big harbours of Germany and has a long hanseatic past, but only a few buildings in the old town remind the visitors of that – mainly some old gates from the city walls and the old cathedral. There is also a nice market square with a good-looking pink town hall. And there is no sea – actually Rostock is on the Southern side of a very deep and thin gulf and actually no sea can be seen from the town at all – the water looks more like a river, than like a sea.
