Rudolstadt
Rudolstadt is a great city in Southern Thuringia until the mid 19-th century the capital of the independent principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. The town is a very nice and calm place centered around the main street and the marketplace with the famous Renneisance town hall. What I especially liked about this town is the initiative of the local government to make small monuments on the central street of all famous people somehow connected to the city like the most famous princes of the small country and also some famous mecenates, painters and writers like Friedrich Schiller. He lived in the town for several years and his house is currently a museum of his art. [more] |
