Whether you're a keen surfer looking to catch some waves, a keen horserider looking for some trekking action, or just a beach bum looking to top up your tan, you'll find something for you at Saquarema. Just a couple of hours' bus ride from Rio, this chilled-out, tranquil beach resort is far quieter than Buzios or Ilha Grande, and is a great place to come and get away from the big city for a couple of days. If you're looking for surfing, hiking or horseriding action there's plenty here, but I was content just to take some good books, throw my beach towel on the sands and soak up some rays!
