Riding the Heide Shuttle
The shuttle, once it arrived at the train station, was a comfortable bus with air conditioning. There are three shuttle buses, the one going through Schneverdingen is Ring 1. (Be careful to get on that again when you go back.) We passed pretty little towns with thatched roofs to get off in Oberhaverbeck or, maybe better, Niederhaverbeck, from where you can start exploring the nature of Lueneburg Heath.

Strolling around Schneverdingen
So we had to wait for the shuttle bus in Schneverdingen for a good hour. The small town appears less than interesting when you arrive at the train station, but once we got closer to the town center, perceptions changed. The weather was good and small vendor stands were put up on the streets everywhere, where locals sold bird houses and small arts and crafts items. Time quickly passed just wandering around.
