Stade
Stade offers a very nice and considerably more relaxing and calm city center compared to that of Hamburg. The whole city has some channels and it seems like it is situated on an island. The central streets are all pedestrian and long, full of people and small cafes, and the channels create a very fresh atmosphere. The church is also interesting and has eight-sided tower (the brochure in the church claimed that this is unique). In general, I think that Stade is a really nice place to spend a day while being in Hamburg and visiting it is a very good idea.

hitchhiking to Stade
Stade is a nice town in the agglomeration of Hamburg. Anyway, it is quite far away from Hamburg and it took me more than two hours to hitchhike to Stade ( there is also S-bahn and train that goes there, but I wanted to have some experience of how to hitchhike around Germany and I chose the trip to Stade for the purpose) Well, hitchhiking on that route was easy as a whole, although most of the people on the way took me just for small distances ( I traveled with 4 cars to Stade and 2 cars back from there). It seemed like most of the people that took me were just going to some village around. Anyways, this allowed me to see the nice town of Buxtehude wich is on the way. As a whole I can say that hitchhiking in this part of Germany was a nice experience.
