Insider advice for your Stralsund vacation , Deutsche Ostseeküste

Stralsund 4 stars
Stralsund is one of the nicest towns in the German province of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on the coast of the Baltic sea. The city, old member of the Hanseatic union has a wonderfully preserved old town center with two market squares , several long pedestrian streets, pretty impressive town hall (it is not exactly beautiful, but it is definitely impressive and strange), a cathedral and, of course a lot of water. Actually the old town is surrounded by water from all sides, there are only some small stripes of land connecting its corners to the mainland.

Hanseatic Town of Stralsund 5 stars
Cut off from mainstream tourism for a long time (due to being in East Germany) Stralsund has shapen up quite nicely in the past years and is well worth a visit. You´d have to invest more than a daytrip as it is a bit away from anywhere, really, but you might wanna hang around a little and enjoy the fantastic Baltic Sea and go on to Rügen, Germany´s biggest island right off Stralsund. We took the train from Hamburg, that takes about 3.5 hrs. The town is famous for the northern gothic brick architecture featured in many of the old Hanseatic cities, plenty of impressive buildings. All in all ready for tourists, most houses will flag a "rooms available" sign and there´s lots of little cafés to take a break from exploring the town.
