Ferry Algeciras-Tangier

If you are starting your holiday in Spain this tip will be really handy. We took a Ferry to Tangier from Algeciras. As we arrived to the port later that we anticipated and we had to rush to get into the Ferry we did not hear the instruction of getting our passports stamped by the Moroccan Police in the Ferry. Apparently they made the announcement during the trip in French and Arabic. But we clearly missed it. After 2 hours of a quite comfortable and quiet trip we were stop at the exit by the Police. We found another group of tourist who also had missed the instructions and they explained to us what went wrong. We had to wait for 45min for the return of a very bad tempered Moroccan policeman, before we were allowed in Moroccan territory. So my advise, get that passport stamped!

Tangier - first impressions
Tangier is one of the main entrance doors to Morocco. If coming from Spain, as you cross the Gibraltar Strait the white of the houses all over is the first impression that strikes you.
The harbor then is quite hectic – always full of people, trucks, cars, amazing! It makes you realize indeed how useful it would be a bridge over the strait.
Driving in Tangier is insane – I saw a couple of car accidents just in front of me simply because people are always in a crazy rush and don’t respect basic rules. If renting a car - use and abuse of your car-horn when driving there.
Walk along beautiful Avenue Mohammed VI, following the bay, if you want to get into the city centre. Then enjoy the exotic and old rich historical parts of Tangier.
