Public transport 3 stars
Public transport in Timsioara is very well organized. There are many trams and buses that come at exact hours. Unfortunately at mid day and early in the morning they are all usually full. Because of the many street reconstruction works, the routes of some buses and trams changes, and it changes often. Most of the buses and trams were donations from European countries. There are burglars or beggars in trams so be careful. I was attacked once but no one seemed to care. Everyone just turned.

Student Campus. 4 stars
In my opinion the most alive part of Timisoara is the Student Campus. Here one can find coffee shops, stores, and fast food restaurants, some opened all day and all night. This is also the place where the students’ residences are, because it is close to the universities. In the weekend there are parties in the clubs. The alleys are always full of young people, mostly students. In the holidays the campus looks almost deserted, it is sad but no problem, holidays do pass quickly.

The Liberty Square 4 stars
The Liberty Square in Timisoara goes under many names: The Parade Square, The Prince Eugene Square. In the Middle of the square there is a statue of The Holy Mother. It was deliberately placed there to let the people know that we are in a Christian town. Nevertheless, it is not entirely so. If one looks closer on an inscription in Turkish on the old Town Hall we find out that the town itself was under the Ottoman Empire until 1716. The square itself is not mush for the non-connoisseurs, but it has good ice-cream.

The Beer Factory 5 stars
The Beer Factory TIMISOREANA has been in Timisoara, Romania since 1718 and it is the first built beer factory in Romania. Once inside you get to eat and drink, which is most appropriate for a beer factory. They are quite cunning because your meal tends to be a bit salty or spicy so that you can put the fire out with some beer. On the whole, the entire building has kept its old style, except of course for the new technology they’ve imported, all sorts of machinery that’ll make your beer taste better.

The Jazz Club 4 stars
The Jazz Club in Timisoara used to have its legend during the communist regime. Back then it was called Pod 16, which means Bridge 16. People used to gather there and listen or play true jazz music. I was told that Jam sessions were always the main course of the day, or night, that is. It’s still there nowadays, but all I found was a room with leather armchairs and dim spotlights, pictures of jazz artists on the walls and an abandoned piano in the corner. Maybe just a bad day for jazz.

Bar:Bollywood 5 stars
Bollywood is a special place in Timisoara. All the football players love going here because it is pretty hidden. Until recently the bar had a hot tub in the back and much alcohol was consumed there. It is a place where you can go and drink a nice cocktail but you can also go if you want no one to see you or know where you are. The place looks different from any other bar in the city. It is Indian style with cushions and pillows and many curtains and beads. The atmosphere is special and the music varies. The bartenders are very skilled so you will be sure to enjoy something special. However the prices are not small at al

Club:Happy 5 stars
Happy is a club in the student’s area. There is a DJ’s corner and a long bar. Besides this, on the side there are tables and benches and in the middle there are tall tables with high bar stools. The dance floor does not exist, so people dance around the tables. I don’t like it because it is very crowded and because there is no dance floor people step on your feet, or you have no place to dance because of chairs and tables. There have promotional prices or they give you free drinks. The club organizes many parties and students who cannot afford an entry in an expensive club or the expensive drinks go there.c

Club:UP 4 stars
UP is a hip hop club where all the fans of this type of music go. Sometimes you can hear reggae beats also but no house or r&b. There are sofas and a big dance floor. The teenagers are always dancing and therefore the dance floor is full. I am surprised of how many underage people go there. You don’t see adults there, the music is really loud and the place is always filled with smoke. If it gets too hot or you can’t bare the smoke for long, like I can’t, you have to go outside. The problem is that you have no place to go than in the street. I don’t think they are organized enough but it seems to work. Whenever the club organizes a special party, young people rush to fill the place up.

Cafe de Paris 4 stars
Café de Paris is a bar where people that have much money to spend usually go. The drinks are expensive and the service is only ok if you order cocktails and expensive drinks. The bar itself looks good, the tables are big, they have sofas and chairs, plasma TVs. The bar offers cakes and sandwiches which are not something very special but they are expensive. What I like about this bar is that it is spacious, two rooms, a small one when you enter, in which friends of the owner or friends of the bartender sit and the big room with a few tables. The place does not look crowded, the music is nice, and if there is no ball game on TV, Fashion TV is always on. If you are a fan of good shakes and don’t mind the nasty service you should go.

Club:Trafic 3 stars
Trafic is a club at one end of Timisoara city. It is a club not many people go to because it is a mix between a restaurant and a club. The service is not good, the food is usually cold and I could never eat there anyway because it is very dirty. However many go there because it is a good place to listen to music and hide if you want few people to know where you are or who you are with. The music played there is “manele” or traditional music, depending on the night. The place is not very big, a few tables and a small stage. There are always many fights and there were even cases of deaths. There are always bodyguards in front and on Saturday night it is always crowded and dangerous to go there.

Club:La Mania 3 stars
La Mania is in the center of the city, near club Firestage. The type of music played here is Manele. Live music is sung by several local and national artists. The atmosphere is a fun one but people dance near the tables and not on the dance floor. The people that come here are young but usually over the age of twenty. The design is nice, comfortable sofas and black and white walls. The place is full but they seat you at a table with others if you do not have a reservation. If you like this type of music it is a great place to listen to it.

Taxis in Timisoara 5 stars
When in Timisoara, we traveled a lot by taxi, drivers are usually very nice but they usually expect a tip. Drivers helped us with directions and gave us tips about moving in the city. Apart from being the third biggest city in Romania, There is no need to travel a lot by Taxi or bus, or at least we didn’t really saw the use of it, but just to go from the city centre to the train station.
There are usually three taxi companies that are reliable; the others usually charge more, so try to find a taxi that seems to belong to a big company, not the ones with a regular car color, since they offer a better service but at a higher price, usually up to 3 times the regular price at a regular taxi.

The Rose Park 5 stars
The Rose Park in Timisoara is probably the biggest park in the city, it has a river that goes through it, making it a great place to go and have a walk.
It has many trees and it is very well taken care of, especially the part where they grow roses. It is a shame I went just a few weeks ago, because in spring time it is said to have loads of red roses everywhere. The park has many areas where to sit and enjoy from a beer to a nice conversation. At night it may be a little dangerous to go by yourself, according to my girlfriend so if you are planning on visiting it, then I recommend you do it on the day time.

Timisoara City Centre 5 stars
Timisoara city centre was comparable to any city centre in Germany, except for the stores. The streets are wide and clean and full of trees and flowers. I was really amazed with the difference between Timisoara’s city centre and the other cities we visited. Some of the things we visited in Timisoara were the cathedral which is very nice especially inside; it has many paintings and beautiful designs.
Some other things that we saw were the TUBORG sculptures, and a very big park with a beautiful river.

Park of Roses 4 stars
The Roses Park lies on the bank of the river Bega, the river that passes through Timisoara. The park is divided in two areas. The area next to the river bank is mainly used for walking and there are many benches. Many people walk their dogs there. The other area is covered with roses of many types and colours, which are splendid in spring and summer. The benches in the park are white and together with the roses they create a very romantic atmosphere. The park also has a stage which is used for concerts or different types of shows. Near the park there is a special area for playing paintball, but I don’t know exactly how you have to book to use it.

Bar:Spirit 4 stars
The “Spirit” bar is one of the modern bars in Timisoara. It can be found in the “Unirii” Square. It is usually full of customers, mostly regulars. The staff is very nice, because all the bars in the “Unirii” Square compy the western european style, where the waiters are nice and friendly and make you feel like home. The atmosphere in there is great, with dim light and candles, nice music and rather cheap drinks. It’s lovely to spend an evening there, except for the fact that it gets kind of smokey.

"Colt" Cafe 4 stars
The Colt Café can be found in the “Unirii” Square in Timisoara. Its name means”corner” and it’s obviously placed on a street corner. The café is really nice. It has two floors which are tastefully furnished and decorated. There are always regular customers going there, but there are also people who just discovered the place. I personally prefer sitting downstairs, because there’s more space and more people and a better atmosphere. The upper floor is more romantic, so to say, but nice as well. The prices are a little bit above average, but all in all, it’s worth paying a visit.

Public Transport 3 stars
You can easily get around Timisoara using the public buses and trams. Some of them are really old, but there are some that have been brought from western Europe and therefore, are more modern. The buses and trams travel very frequently during the day, but there is none that travels during the night, so you should probably get a taxi. Taxis are cheap in Timisoara and there are more than 1500 of them. There may be beggars asking for money and saying prayers in the tram/bus but the best thing to do is to ignore them or give them a coin, if you’re willing. The public transport is cheap and has no time schedule. You just wait for the trams in the tram station.

Cheap shopping in Timisoara 3 stars
If you’re in Timisoara and looking for cheap clothes, makeup, household items, you should avoid the city centre. You can find that in the two markets that are to be found outside the city. One of the market is called “Aurora” and can be reached by bus. This market is very big and the things you can purchase here are pretty cheap. In this market you can also buy fruit and food and it also hosts a second hand market. The other one is to be found in the “Mehala” neighbourhood and is bigger than “Aurora”. Here you mostly find clothes, shoes and toys. For both markets you have to pay entrance fees(about 0,50 Euro) that are valid for the whole day. Remember that the clothes they sell there are never original.

Campus 4 stars
As Timisoara is one of the most important university cities in Romania, it should be proud of its campus. Maybe you will not find the campus as large as you might expect, but I can assure you, it's great going there to party. They have many discos, for every taste and every price range. They also have many bars and terraces and in summer you can always watch football there. They have really cheap restaurants with great food and many parties in the dormitories. I wouldn't live there though. Even if it's rather cheap, you get to live with 2-4 other persons in the same ROOM!!It's great to have friends who live there so you can meet many people from all over Romania and sometimes even foreigners, but I don't suggest living there yourself. The best part about the campus is that there's always something going on there.
