Potipot Island
If you're a beach bum who hate large crowds, then Potipot Island is the perfect place for you to go to. Last weekend, I had the chance of visiting the island for a recon job I was doing for an adventure travel guide group, and though the weather did not quite cooperate, I must admit that I did enjoy the visit very much. A small private island found in Uacon, Candelaria, Zambales, the place is lined with pinkish-white sand and can be reached by outrigger which are rented for a minimal amount of P400 [US$10.00 (capacity of 6 persons)] back and forth. The trip usually lasts for only five minutes. Though there are no resorts at the island proper, many can be found on the Uacon mainland which offers very affordable accommodation and great hospitality. For the adventurers at heart, tents are allowed at Potipot Island for those who want to stay there overnight. By the way, there's a caretaker who collects a P50 entrance fee upon arrival at the island.
