Veria transportation
If you arrive in Veria by train - takee the bus waiting for you at the station (11), it costs 0.90 cents (you can buy a ticket from the machine next to the bus) and it takes you to the main bus stop of the town in the center, just behind the cathedral. But beware, when you try to go back the bus with the same number may be going in some other direction (that happened with me), so try to ask somebody which bus will take you to the station. For every train there is a corresponding bus. At this bus stop is also the place where you can take buses to different locations in and around Veria, including Vergina. There is no point of walking from the station to the center, the road is pretty long and rather unpleasant.

Veria
Veria is a wonderful small city in Northern Greece, capital of Imathia prefecture. Unlike most famous Greek cities this one is not on the sea coast, but on the feet of the Pindus mountains. The old town is amazing having all these small cobblestone streets and very old Byzantine churches, most of which are rennovated and entrance is, of course, free. The more modern part of the city center is also very nice and lively, full of people and shops. As usual with smaller cities the prices are much better compared to Thessaloniki.
