Our next city stop was to be Cartagena on the Caribbean coast, and we decided to break our journey by visiting the little mountain town of Villa de Leyva. What a great decision! This is a gorgeous, peaceful place with a lovely cobblestone square, pretty streets, friendly locals and lots of places to eat and drink. We found a budget room right on the main square, and spent a couple of days here drinking sangria and just chilling out (literally, in the evenings, when it got very chilly).
