Playa del Carmen – a beach adventure on the Yucatan Peninsula! 5 stars

Playa del Carmen is an attractive yet thriving resort about one hour’s drive (42 miles) from Cancun. The area is famous for its white beaches, gentle surf, coral reefs and slow lifestyle. At the hub of the town is the ferry port which offers hourly trips to Cozumel island. It is a place to enjoy marvellous beaches by day and a lively nightlife in the evening. There is a huge array of typically Mexican restaurants, bars and cafes to indulge in and 5th Avenue (the main strip) is ideal for souvenir buying and people watching. I loved the tequila factory shop where you can try various flavours and the amber factory, which contains beautiful jewellery.
