Coba – Discover the mystical Mayan ruins for yourself!
Cobá is one of the oldest Mayan settlements on the peninsula and means "waters stirred by the wind". This name is derived from the five lakes in the vicinity in which you can spot crocodiles. The vast site, which still lies largely unexcavated, was found by explorers in the mid 1800s. From deep inside the jungle, towering pyramids and archaeological structures poke out through the trees and undergrowth. You can hire a trishaw with driver to transport you through this mystical site, which is great fun and an experience in itself. Nohoc Mul is the great pyramid of Coba and stands 130ft above the jungle. You can climb this immense structure and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views below. All in all a cultural and fascinating experience.

Xel-Ha – A fun filled underwater adventure!
The trip to Xel-Ha was undoubtedly the highlight of my Mexican adventure. Xel-Ha is located in the Riviera Maya and is a Mexican Caribbean natural theme park. The park is built around the natural beauty of the inlets and rivers and the snorkelling in the cave (cenote) and the lagoon is out of this world. The vibrant multi-coloured fish are in abundance and you really feel as though you are swimming in a tropical aquarium. You can spot barracuda and stingray, which are absolutely wonderful to see. Other activities include swimming with dolphins, cave diving and floating down the serene mangroves in a rubber ring. Simply relax and watch the world go by! There are numerous cafes and restaurants on the circumference, which are of the highest standard. A truly memorable day out for everybody!
