Newport Beach Travel Tips

Insider advice for your Newport Beach vacation , west coast

Bayside 4 stars
Bayside is defined as one of Newport's more chic restaurants, making it an exclusive place to wine and dine a partner or a new flame, thanks to their exquisite menu and beautiful decor with gallery-styled dining rooms, a vine-draped exterior that will awe each and every patron, not to mention the cool, if not sleek bar that folks can't seem to get enough of.

On the menu, expect dishes such as risotto with pancetta-wrapped tiger prawns or Pacific grilled swordfish, both of which were recommended to me and I can recommend both of them as well as their four-course prix fixe menu, which costs just $49.95.

Gulfstream Restaurant 4 stars
No matter what state you're in, before coming here, I would highly recommend calling at least 30 minutes ahead to be placed on the waiting list. When you arrive, whatever the wait time is, they'll cut it in half... usually.

The inside is decorated with sleek, red-leather booths, Asian-inspired lighting fixtures and gleaming teak paneling smack of mid-century chic. Surprisingly enough, the Gulf Stream Restaurant is one of the offshoot chains of Houston's, owned by the Hillstone Restaurant Group.

Naturally, their menu is heavy on seafood. As far as recommendations go, I'd try going for their cedar-plank roasted salmon if looking for a more flavourful entree. Another great choice is their tuna burger, which is a well-seasoned patty of ground ahi, seared to just-pink perfection.
