A Rocky Cove in Southern Cove
Perkins Cove can be found by turning onto Shore Dr. in central Ogunquit and then following the signs to the cove. It is a tiny, well-defined inlet that is home to a small flotilla of lobster boats and pleasure craft. The paid parking lot gets pretty full in summer, so some visitors take the shuttle bus down from Wells Beach to enjoy the restaurants, art galleries and walk along the rocky shoreline, called Marginal Way. In the fall the beach rose, which grows profusely along the shoreline, produces a golden-yellow fruit and the leaves of this plant turns to a bright ocher color. [more] |
