Get lost is the world's largest bookstore
Not only is Powell's City of Books unique, it happens to be the largest new and used bookstore in the world, stocking over a million books and occupying 68,000 square feet (an entire city block) on the edge of Portland's Alphabet District. Its 3,500 different sections are separated into the store's multicolored rooms, including the orange room, purple room, green room and...you get the picture. The rainbow of rooms constitutes several half-floors and creates a veritable maze of books. One can easily get lost in Powell's- both figuratively and literally, so the store kindly provides maps.
