Clingman's Dome (Smoky Mountains)
Going up on top of Clingman’s Dome is one of the best experiences I had at the Smoky Mountains. It is the highest peak in the Smoky Mountains and the best on a Sunny. Cligman’s Dome is basically a large observation tower for getting the highest view on the peaks. Since the altitude is so high, I would recommend drinking plenty of water during the journey. On the path up it is not so steep, rather more of a gradual climb. You can take a paved path which was only about a 15 minute climb from the parking lot. I was probably only a quarter mile up to the top. Walking back is great since you get to watch all those climbers struggling to get up. [more] |
