The more things change...
South Padre Island has changed over the years, but it's still my favourite place to go on the Texas coastline. I was a little surprised the last time I went there at how expensive everything was, but I guess that's bound to happen over time, and to be fair it was the middle of the high season (July). There are some new hotels and condominiums, of course, but many of the old favourites from my childhood are still there and still have the same decor as they did in the '70s (incidentally, I think this is a good thing - modern isn't always better).
