The Waldorf Astoria - A Classic!

 stars
When I clicked on the "I've been here" ...I wished I could click on the...oh I've been here...I've been here many many many times, for several different occasions.

The Waldorf Astoria is familiar to every New Yorker for one reason or another. Some young ladies dream of getting married here - surrounded by it's oppulent ball room. Others wish to just stay here and maybe catch a glimpse of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who frequent the hotel. The hotel is oppulent and old world in every sence - yet the large boquests of fresh flowers let you know, as you enter -that everything here is kept in its absolute best shape.

My first real Waldorf experience was when I was a senior in high school. We had our prom at the Waldorf Astoria. I'm sure some people had prom in the high school gym - but not us. We were lucky enough to have our prom in the most oppulent place in New York. Ofcourse we showed up in style in stretch limos. Honestly - my memmories of prom are skewed but I do remember our food was great - and dancing in the grand ballroom is still one of the highlights of my life.

Later on in life I was considering taking a job opportunity at The Waldorf and couldn't believe how everything had come full circle. Back to the oppulent hotel that is a symbol for New York luxury and hospitality. Looking back - just interviewing there was an experience I will never forget. The managers who I met there all had the best experience with the greatest backrounds - bringing them to be a part of history at this hotel.

The Waldorf Astoria is listed on the national registrar of historic places and is today owned by Hilton. Conrad Hilton once said that he HAD to own the Waldorf for his life to feel complete. He met that goal and over the past few years have branded The Waldorf and opened other Waldorf brand hotels around the world.

This is a true gem - and not to be missed FREE attraction in New York. Take pictures - gather your family in the lobby and check out the shops inside the hotel! [more]
