Hotel Diplomatic was a choice we made based off of reviews from one of those hotel search engine sites.
We wanted a hotel that had A/C, we wanted a hotel with a decent location for sight-seeing, and we wanted a hotel and the cheapest price we could get.
As far as cheap, their standard rate is not cheap at all, however, what we paid through the search engine was far below that, so try not to pay their standard rate.
The hotel is located a stone's throw from Castel Sant Angelo (about a 5 min walk), about a 10 min walk to Piazza Navona, and a very short bus ride to about anything, really. There's even a bus stop right in front of the hotel! We live in Munich and are used to taking the U-bahn or S-bahn everywhere...but we learned in Rome that the bus is the way to go.
Hotel Diplomatic's breakfast buffet was pretty good, much better than I expected. Their staff at the reception were always nice and overall we liked the place. However, it wasn't anything spectacular. Great location with decent rooms and the A/C worked well. [more]
