Sundowner Motel, Blenheim
The Sundowner Motel is situated on Nelson Street in Blenheim, at the top of the South Island in New Zealand. And it just happens to be one of my favourite motels in the entire country.
Blenheim is in the Marlborough region, a place famous for its wine production. In fact, 40% of New Zealand's wines are produced here. The high sunshine hours of the area also make it popular for a whole host of outdoor activities, including golf and cycling.
The Sundowner offers 10 groundfloor units, some with spa baths, in a quiet and off-road location. The units are serviced daily, and parking is directly outside your unit.
Each room has a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, electric blanket, stove and microwave, satellite TV, Broadband internet, and coffee plunger (including coffee!). All units are non-smoking (unless you accidently leave something cooking on the stove, and then they seem to smoke a lot), and there are cooked and continental breakfasts available, as well as a BBQ area, free spa, solar heated swimming pool, and guest laundry.
The cost is between $110 and $130 (2 persons). [more ]
