The Hilton Kingston
Hilton is a world renowned name in the hotel industry, and in Kingston, Hilton is one of the more popular hotels for business travellers. It’s centrally located in New Kingston the business district and has all the amenities a visitor could want, whether you’re on business or on a vacation. The rooms are spacious and the food and service are good. There is a gym , gaming lounge, fine dining restaurants including a Japanese Restaurant, there is also a 24 hour Lobby Café. At the Hilton there is never a shortage of entertainment, they usually have theme nights and on Fridays you can choose to participate or sit and be tortured by local Karaoke enthusiasts.
Prices start at about US$150, depending on the season. Though I do like the Hilton I do believe you can get a better value for your money from other hotels of similar qualities. One of the downfalls of the establishment is it’s openness to the public, so sometimes guests tend to feel that there is a lack of privacy. The entertainment nights attract local patrons, this is a good thing, but the downside of it is there are sometimes women who try to solicit sex and harass the guests. It is not an obvious problems but I have known a few foreigners that have experienced it. The hotel is making an effort to reduce this situation, by paying closer attention to the visitors that go and come. That being said, the Hilton is still a pretty safe environment and it is possible to have a good time there.
