Ljubljana's Grand Hotel Union Executive is located on Miklošičeva cesta 1 and it is a fine example of Art Nouveau style that has been preserved even though the hotel went through 2 restoration since 1905 when it was officially opened. Grand Hotel was not only first modern Ljubljana hotel but it also boasted the title of the biggest hotel in the Balkans with its length of 100 meters. The splendid iron construction roof was very complex to built and it was considered an engineering achievement. The façade and the interior design is notable for its etched glass and even though it has been replaced since, it still has the markings of Art Nouveau style. [more] |
