Super basic backpackers Berlin
In need of a place to stay with little time to spare, I booked the Backpackers Berlin hostel twin room. The was little information available on the place of their own giving nor many reviews from customers as it appears to be a relatively new hostel on the scene. It was located on the bottom floor of an apartment complex in Friedrichshain spread over two old apartments, meaning the bedrooms are separated from the common areas by the buildings main entrance hall. Overall the place was clean, neat and met our basic needs but lacked in a few areas that backpackers tend to take for granted like computers. They offered free wifi but no computers which made our planning a little more difficult. The staff are helpful but couldn't tell us much about some of the main tourist attractions we were heading to and hadn't any maps or surplus info. We were hoping to find a tv or dvd to chill from a hard day's travel but were disappointed to find nothing. Not even a stereo to listen to. The common room offers a lounge suite and bar stools along a mirrored wall. Which is great for those who enjoy watching themselves eat. A breakfast of coffee and bread is a available for 3 euro but there were cheaper, better breakfasts in the cafes on nearby Sonntagstrasse. It was a good location and one of the cleaner hostels I've stayed in but it lacked in a few key areas. Otherwise the dorms were cheap, around 9 euro, it was super quiet and a good base from which to explore Berlin. [more] |
