Crash Records
Hurrah for independent record stores, they are a dying breed. Crash Records on The Headrow is a well known Leeds alternative to the usual chains. It also serves as a ticket agent, including selling tickets for the annual Leeds Carling Festival. Its owner is the wonderfully named Ian De Whytell. You’d expect a name like that to belong to a merchant banker or something. Instead, his empire is two floors of various musical genres. He also invites bands to do in store signings from time to time. The Ground Floor is devoted to rock, alternative, indie, metal, punk and hardcore.
