Hotel Caribe Travelling from Cartagena to Madrid with the now defunct long-haul budget airline Air Madrid, I was not surprised to find my flight delayed by several hours. I was surprised, however, to find that the airline, which went into administration around a month later in December last year, bussed all its passengers out to five star luxury at the Hotel Caribe. Normally well out of my price range, I woudl certainly recommend a stay here for anyone with money to burn in Cartagena. Although our rooms were very obviously the cheapest, they were still comfortable and equipped with every possible convenience. The buffet dinner was a veritable feast of salads, hot and cold dishes, desserts...and was served by an enormous outdoor pool as a live band played by the water. The hotel is set in large grounds, and apparently even has its own zoo - although I was here for too short a time to go exploring. Probably the only time I have ever wished my plane was delayed for longer! [more]
