Belfast City Hall
It’s a very impressive building, situated in Donegall Square in the centre of Belfast. Built of Portland stone, in the Classic Renaissance style, it features towers at each of the four corners and a brass dome in the centre and dominates the city centre skyline. There are several statues on the grounds, mainly local historical figures from commerce and an unsmiling Queen Victoria. There's also a memorial to the victims of the Titanic as the ship was actually built in Belfast. Free guided tours of the inside of the building were available and the surrounding gardens proved to very popular with office workers and tourists alike. [more] |
