The castle of Schaltenburg in Feldkirch has for a long tome been one of the seats of counts Monfort – the prominent rulers of the area, which is nowadays the province of Vorarlberg. Today the castle contains the museum of the city’s history and a small but especially nice restaurant. From the castle one can see the whole old city of Feldkirch and a nice view of the last ridges of the Austrian Alps. Under the castle there is a large tunnel, so that the cars can pass on the other side of the castle hill.
