Gibraltar Cute Apes at the Upper Rock
Nearly 170 Barbary apes (Sylvanus Macacus) live in the Gibraltar Upper Rock Nature Reserve. These cute Gibraltar inhabitants are the only free roamingmonkeys in Europe. This was a really fun experience. Although these apes are used to be surrounded by visitors, and they were not aggressive, it is advisable to keep the distance specially around the protecting males. There were children around and the little monkeys were really peaceful. We had a chance to take some nice photos but out of a sudden the apes disappeared and we had to drive a bit further to find more them. We also saw more apes playing around The Caleta Hotel in the Catalan Bay. [more] |
