Take a walk through 20th century Leipzig

 stars
The Haus der Geschichte and the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig, one complex, really, are a great way to discover contemporary German (and in this case especially East German) history. The main Haus der Geschichte is actually in Bonn (great, if you´re ever in the area go there!!!), but the Leipzig branch is just as good, if not quite as big. You basically take a tour of Leipzig and the east from the beginning of the second World War, and the part about the socialist dictatorship, refugee stories and the fall of the wall is naturally touching and tastefully done. All in all this is extremely informative with tons of visuals, audios and artefacts. Admission free. [more ]
