Castle hill
The castle hill of Nice is a great place to have a perfect view towards the coast in both directions - to the south is the old town of Nice and its famous boulevard parralel to the coast. Also avenue Masenna can be easily recognized by the trees and the buildings. And to the north one can see the yacht harbour of the city and the green cape Ferrat. On the hill there are a few ruins and an interesting cemetery, but it is more like a park than a historical place. You can go to the very top of the hill and you will find there a little terrace, of course once again with a great view. [more] |

Going for a run in Nice? Try something a little different, Castle hill (Parc Du Chateau)
This was one of my favorite places in Nice. It was a great jog up to the top, especially after many hours on a night train going through France. From there you see a significant portion of Nice. This is likely one of the best places to take in the city, the sea, houses on the mountainsides, and some really big private boats! Castle hill really has something for everyone. It has a great children’s park, various archaeological sights and I saw at least one café and one snack bar. It seems that most of the locals that were up there brought there own food and judging by the prices this was a pretty good idea. [more] |
