For those Picasso aficionados, Barcelona and Paris aren’t the only cities to catch a museum dedicated to the father of Cubism. In fact, some of the smaller cities house the best Picasso museums, including Malaga, Antibes, and Münster. While Antibes renovates its house and Malaga continues to thrive (for somewhat obvious reasons when you consider Picasso’s heritage as a Spaniard with an adoptive city in Paris), Münster is a great hidden–and unexpected–gem to check out. The funny thing about this German town is that you don’t really have to pay for art in the first place. In addition to having some pretty addictive cheese, this city boasts dozens of public sculptures making an afternoon art walk one of the best things you can do for your mind and your wallet (not to mention your legs). But on those penultimate museum days (re: rainy days), you could do worse than to plunk down 6 or 4 Euros (students, under 27-s, unemployed, seniors) to get into the Graphikmuseum Pablo Picasso. Not just for die-hard art fans
Okay, so Picasso isn´t for everyone, and German art museums are quite often a little boring. But the Picasso Museum in Münster is actually quite enjoyable and, as far as art value goes, worth the entrance fee (adults €6, discounts for students, children, seniors, groups etc.). Pablo´s lithographs, still lives and famous bull fights are arranged nicely among other modern artists. If you travel with children you should ask for a special kids tour, they put a lot of effort into those. The gift shop should fill your bags with plenty of sophisticated souveniers.
