For those whose lives, ladies, and lovers are the sea, Greenwich boasts the extraordinary National Maritime Museum. Having the benefit of less-cramped space, the museum grounds are lovely to stroll. National Maritime Museum
National Maritime Museum is located very close to the Greenwich Park and it is an interesting places for both children and adults. It is situated in what was once a Royal Hospital School however today it gives a wonderful perspective of UK's maritime history during both war and peaceful times. Not only you can get information about the historical facts, figures and events, but also you can learn more about the different types of sailing ships throughout the history. The National Maritime Museum is dived in 3 thematic levels. Level 1 looks at the history of passengers, explorers and maritime London; Level 2 is devoted to Trade and Art and Sea, which is the largest maritime art collection of its sort; and then Level 3 which is the Hands on gallery and complete treat for children as they can have a go at different maritime skills. Opening hours are daily (Mon to Sun) from 10:00am until 5:00pm (last admission 30 minutes before closing time) and the admission is free. [more] |
