The Fitzwilliam Museum
The Fitzwilliam is one of Britain’s finest museums. The permanent collections contain remarkable antiquities from ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Galleries display Roman and Romano-Egyptian art along with Western-Asiatic exhibits. The museum is best loved for its collection of paintings, which includes masterpieces by Titian, Veronese, Rubens, Van Dyck, Canaletto, Hogarth, Gainsborough, Constable, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, and Picasso. There is also a fine collection of other 20th century art, miniatures, drawings, watercolors, and prints. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Cambridge area. [more] |
