Manggha Centar of Japanese Art
Manggha Centar of Japanese Art is not something you would expect to find in Krakow of all places. However since it opened its doors in 1994 it has been quite successful in attracting visitors, I guess because it is the largest museum of this kind in Eastern Europe. The permanent collection is based on the art collected by Jasienski who was fascinated with Japanese art and then decided to donate his collection to the National Museum of Poland. Another artist Wayda saw the collection in his early years and when he received the Kyoto award he decided to donate it towards building the museum. The building in itself is unusual so it might be worth you to pop down for a visit. And if you love Japanese art then this will be a rare treat. [more] |
