Erfurt Citadel
The great city of Erfurt also has a big citadel on the high hill in direction north-west to the old town. The citadel itself is not that beautiful – there are only some old fortification walls and moats left, but from the top there is a great view towards the old center of the city. Unfortunately one can see not only the old center, but also the big complexes of panel blocks built in the times of DDR which are not attractive at all, the good thing is they cannot really spoil the view. In the middle of the citadel ther has been an old church but now there are only ruins and barrackas left. [more] |
