Little Maple Plain (Ahornboden),
I often go to Karwendel hiking. The scenery is truly dramatic here-the beautiful green of the luscious valley in contrast to the enormous grey mountains. One place you ought to visit here, even if you are not a walker is the Ahornboden. This is an extensive sweeping valley full of maple trees. It is like a scene from Lord of the Rings! Autumn is the best time to come when all the leaves turn a dramatic red colour.
There is a cafe and guesthouse at the start of the valley where you can enjoy strudel, cake, and austrian fare as well as a gift shop.
Take a walk along the valley, among the magnificant maple trees and you may well be lucky enough to see all the cows being called in from their pastures to be milked. It is quite a sight to see, hundreds of cows making their way back to their stalls. [more]
