St. Hedwig's Cathedral, Berlin

St. Hedwigs Cathedral

For those that are a bit confused about churches and which ones are the most important in any given city you visit, I’ll make it easy for you. Saint Hedwigs is the cathedral of Berlin. It has been the cathedral of Berlin since it was built back in 1747 by Frederick the Great who was trying to appease the catholic population in Berlin. I’m always amazed at how tourists don’t know what a cathedral is, but this is the church where the bishop of the area presides. This one is built much like the pantheon in Rome. Although it is not the largest of cathedrals, it was still worth my tem minutes and its location just off of Unter den Linden makes it easy to just pop in for a few minutes. [more ]
