The Soldiers and Sailors Monument
This is a large and beautiful monument located in the center of Indianapolis. In fact, Indianapolis is known as the Circle City, and guess where this monument is located? Right in the center of the circle from which the city gets it's name. You can sometimes get a tour through the monument, which is essentially a tower. But there are also fountains, and it is a popular place to just sit and have lunch in Indy. Much like the library steps in New York City. Also of note, at Christmas time, the city strings up thousands of feet of giant Christmas lights and transforms the monument in a gigantic Christmas tree. It's very fun to go at Christmas time, and they do New Year's Eve celebrations as well. This monument is really great to visit if you are new in Indy. [more] |
