Las Charcas (Mud Baths) & Promenade Walk
Las Charcas is an area of Lo Pagan (San Pedro Del Pinatar) that I have been to on several occasions. I like this area. Las Charcas is an area of water on one side of a very long walkway or promenade that stretches out a few miles into the Mar Menor. On the other side of the promenade walk there is the beach of Playa de La Mota. Las Charcas is famous for its (Banos de Lodo) Mud Baths. The waters of the sea here are said to contain minerals that can help people with arthritis, rheumatism, and fractured bones. If you immerse yourself in the waters, they are said to help the healing process. I have been here for walks along the promenade and I have seen many older looking people in the waters and they have covered themselves fully in the mud from the sea. I don’t know if it works or not, but there seem to be a lot of people who come here. I have not tried the healing waters; I think I would not like to be covered in mud! I do enjoy walking and cycling. I have done both along this promenade, but it is very hard walking in hot weather. I have been on a bicycle and that is easier. [more] |
