Cobra Museum

 stars
Cobra Museum is located at Sandbergplein 1.

Cobra Museum has nothing to do with cobras as in snakes (although you can find virtually anything in Amsterdam) but it is a contemporary art museum that is dedicated to the Cobra group. Cobra group came into the scene just after World War II and it is an abstractive expressionism art if you want to get technical. The name comes from the combination of names where the founders resided Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Brussels. The most notable painters belonging to he movement are Jorn and Appel. The permanent exhibition is very interesting and if you are into contemporary art and expressionism then you should pay a visit.

Opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00am until 5:00pm; closed on Mondays. The price of admission is €9.50. [more ]
