Pianola Museum
Pianola Museum is located at Westerstraat 106. Pianola Museum is completely dedicated to that fabulous invention of 19th century the pianola. Pianolas are those instruments you can see in old movies, with all those cylinders and playing on their own. The design behind pianola was that they could reproduce music with the use of acrton roles that had holes for each note. They became widely popular and more then 2 million were made at the time, with some of the most famous composers (such as Stravinsky) creating music especially for pianolas. Pianola museum is interesting as here you can see some of these beautiful preserved instruments, as well as paper music roles that were used at the time. The opening hours are on Sundays from 2:00pm until 5:00pm but you can also visit every other day if you arrange an appointment. The price of admission is €5.00. [more] |
