The Mexican Museum
The Mexican Museum is conveniently located in the heart of San Francisco in the Mission District. It is a museum that presents various aspects of Latin American art, culture, and tradition. It is the only museum in the Bay area that is dedicated to Mexican and Latin American Art. It was opened in 1975 by artist Peter Rodriguez. Since its opening, it has grown to have more than 150 exhibitions of more than 12, 000 forms of Mexican, Chicano, and Latin American art. The exhibition represents thousands of years of Hispanic art and culture. The collection includes art from pre-conquest, colonial, contemporary, and modern art.
The Mexican Museum has many different programs that are appealing to children, adults, groups, schools, and families. These programs take place at various times throughout the year.
