The Amazing features of Uganda’s Mount Elgon National Park
Although Uganda’s Mount Elgon National Park in Uganda lies in the leeward side of the mountain, the national park offers lots of fun and wonders, which include ancient caves, waterfalls and gorges. In fact, I observed that the Uganda side of the mountain is much more accessible than the Kenyan side because it is not very steep and climbing the mountain from the Uganda side does not require any special mountaineering skills. I participated in a brief hike to the mid-level heights of the mountain during which we saw different wild animals that included buffaloes, elephants, chimpanzees and buffaloes. There are several designated camps and camping sites. Visitors must always remember to seek the company of armed guides or guards because some sections of the mountain are inhabited by dangerous wildlife. [more] |
