The New Cathedral of Linz (Neuer Dom)
The New cathedral in Linz is one of the nicest Neo-gothic cathedrals I have ever seen. I don’t like the neo-gothic style very much, to me it looks like fake gothic, but I have to admit that this church is probably the greatest of its kind. It was built in the late 19-th century and has a very high tower which is one of the main landmarks of the city. The cathedral is very very dark inside (typical for the style) and has only few decorations, and that creates a great and a little bit scary atmosphere. Unfortunately the cathedral is not exactly in the city center, so you have to see a map or ask somebody before finding it. [more] |
