Peaceful Catalan Bay at the other side of the Rock
Catalan Bay, "the bay of the Catalans', is a bay and a fishing village on the Eastern Coast of Gibraltar, on the opposite side of the Rock. The Catalan Bay Beach, popularly known as La Caleta("small bay"), is one of the two best beaches in Gibraltar and a tourist site with a nearby hotel. This area is pretty residential with very few bars by the beach. If you like quiet places this is the spot for you. At one point it was possible to continue to Europa Point from here, but nowadays the Sir Herbert Miles Road was closed. Although the Dudley Ward Tunnel was closed for years it has now being reopened so you can connect to the other side of the Rock from the Catalan Bay.
